Shutter Speed

So tonight I will be diving into the exciting concept of Shutter Speed. Here goes nothing.

What is Shutter Speed?
-Shutter Speed is one of the most important things on the camera.
-Shutter speed is the amount of time the digital film sensor is exposed to light. Furthermore shutter speed determines the image being captured..

Measuring Shutter Speed.
-Shutter Speed is measured in fractions of a second. A speed of 5000 means the shutter will be open for 1/5000th of a second.
A:)Slow Shutter Speed:slow than 1/60th of a second.
B:)Fast Shutter Speed: 1/500th of a second used to stop FAST subjects like a rabbit.

Food for Thought: To get a good idea of what your lens can do with being hand held is the following. A lens that is 300mm for example can be handheld up to 1/300th of a second. Anything lower would require a tripod.
-Minimum hand held speed shouldn't be less than 1/60th of a second

Examples of different shutter speeds:
Football: 1/400
Soccer/Baseball:1/350
People Jumping:1/250
Water Splashing:1/350
Kids Running:1/350
Golf Ball:1/3200

When messing with Shutter Speed you will need to also alter your aperture, but that is tomorrows topic. Aperture.

Wow I've already learned something with my first investigation and I'm only in the "Basic" stuff!
